E-Journals in Psychology

    Last Updated  May 16, 2002

I hope to promote the practice of online publication of scientific journals.  Toward that effort, this site will list only journals that make at least some full articles available to the Internet community.

Readers who need access to a wider range of journals are referred to Armin Guenther's outstanding list of more than 1,000 psychology and social science journal sites.  Most are published in English, some are in German, a few are in other languages.  Language of publication should no longer be a problem though, because of the translation services available on the Web.  AltaVista's Babel Fish is a good example.

For the latest list of psychology journals with full articles, use the search engine at Mental Health Net - PsychJournalSearch.  Be sure to click the "Journals with Full text Articles online (Few)" radio button in Step 1, and do not click any of the radio buttons in Step 3, unless you want to limit your search.

Index of Null Effects and Replication Failures
The iNERF is an index comprised of short 1-2 page descriptions of experiments or replications that did not meet the traditional level of significance. All fields of psychology are encouraged to post their null findings. The purpose of the iNERF is to provide researchers with an opportunity to disseminate information about their null studies without having to take up precious time writing up a full manuscript.
The brief reports of studies found in the iNERF are not peer reviewed, may be missing crucial details, and are not necessarily convincing in providing support for a null effect.

Journal of Articles in Support of the Null Hypothesis
JASNH is peer reviewed, full article journal, offering an outlet for experiments that do not reach the traditional significance levels (p<.05), thus reducing the "file drawer problem", and reducing the bias in psychological literature. Without such a resource researchers could be wasting their time examining empirical questions that have already been examined.  The first online publication will be out in June, 2002.
JASNH also includes a section titled "Index of Null Effects and Replication Failures".  The brief reports of studies found in the iNERF are not peer reviewed, may be missing crucial details, and are not necessarily convincing in providing support for a null effect.
