Tables can be used for a variety of purposes. They can be used to organize and control the display of information on a web page, frame an image, or insure the proper display of graphics.
Note: Nothing else can be entered on the same line as a table.
Colors can be added to the backgrounds of cells in the table.

SAMPLE INFORMATION:
The information used in this sample was taken from an actual web page. The author had created a set of links that allowed the reader to jump to different sections of the page. On the original page, the set of links looked like this:

Framing Images
Granted, on the Internet, nobody knows if you are a dog. Some say that you should not put pictures of yourself, your pet, etc., on your web pages. However, while I recognize that most of my visitors do not need to know what I look like, at least some of them will run into me at professional meetings. That is why I put my picture on some of my pages. That way, if they do not get close enough to read my name badge, or do not recognize my name, they recognize my face.
On some of my pages, I have simply inserted the image.
On others, I took a little fancier route. I have added the image to a single- or multi-cell table to produce a more finished appearance.

BTW, all of these images are actually files of the same size. I controlled the size of the image that is displayed by your browser by specifying the HEIGHT and WIDTH properties in the IMG tag. The picture is actually this big:
