The maximum credit for each Exam Unit is 15 points. Exam Unit 1 requires specific assignments that will provide full credit. You may select which assignments you will complete for Exam Units 2 and 3. The first assignment submitted and accepted will be worth 5 points, and the second will be worth 10. Exam Unit 4 requires one specific assignment. You may select one other assignment that will provide full credit for that unit. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYY There is a reason for all of the assignments that are listed. With the exception of the Psychology on Meaningful Dates and Advance Directives assignments (which have different purposes), each one is intended to force the student to focus on material that I know has a high likelihood of appearing on the exams. Although they are not to be submitted, I would strongly advise you to do all of them as part of your study effort. I would also suggest that you pretend that the "Absolute" deadlines
are not even there. Pretend that the "Guarantee" deadline is the
only deadline.
|
Visit the Study Skills Bookmarks page and see what you can find that might maximize the chances of your success both in this course and college in general. Also, you may find that as you learn the material, and especially as you prepare for the exams, the Games Psychologists Play page may be of some value to you. Of course, the more you know and understand about psychology, the more useful and meaningful the games and humor become.
You should go ahead and become familiar with the tools that are available to help you search the web for useful material. Read the MegaPsych article Searching the Web For Psychology-oriented Sites even if you think you already know how to do searches.
Whenever you write anything for this course that refers to information or resources that are available via the Internet, you will be expected to properly reference the source. Read the MegaPsych Article Writing Psychology Reports ahead of time and familiarize yourself with how to properly cite the sources of material on the Internet. The Example and Hints (E&H) page for the first assignment (Psychology on Meaningful Dates), which is required for everyone in this course, provides additional instruction and details about proper APA-style referencing.
You must also provide a proper reference for the textbook whenever it is the source of material used in the assignment. The MegaPsych Article Writing Psychology Reports also addresses the proper format for citing the textbook.
Any assignment that does not include the necessary references, properly formatted, will automatically be rejected.
All assignments must include information from at least one Web site and the properly formatted reference(s). All assignments must also include a summary of any relevant material related to the topic from the textbook and the properly formatted reference for the textbook. If the topic is not addressed at all in the textbook, a statement to that effect would be appropriate. A properly formatted reference for the textbook must be included in the list of references. See More on Writing Psychology Reports for additional explanation and details about the minimum references.
You may use sites other than those I specify. However, I have screened the sites I provide and can generally vouch for the quality of information at most of them. If you find that a site I list has been moved or is otherwise no longer accessable, search the Web (the names and descriptions might be useful to you) and try to find where that material is now or locate a worthy substitute site that you can use. Exercise caution at other sites. That it is there does not necessarily mean that it is accurate information.
The use of sources that I do not have ready access to ("for-fee"
sites, other books or journals, etc.) is prohibited.
