The Company in the Past
Starting in 1865, the watchmaker Charles Reuge and his descendants,
having established themselves in Sainte-Croix,continued to dedicate
their lives to the musical mechanism and the music box. As businessmen,
creators and innovators,they developed a prosperous company that
was able to withstand all the storms. In 1988, there being no
more descendants,the company was sold to an enthusiastic group
of Swiss-French investors.
The Company Today
Reuge SA is the largest employer in Sainte-Croix. The company
specializes in the design and manufacture of musical movements
and their cases. It is the only company in the world today with
the required capabilities to implement its own product line comprising
large musical pieces, singing birds and musical pocket watches.
Reuge SA specializes in the making and marketing of both simple and very complex musical movements. It is now the only company left in the world not only manufacturing large musical movements but also a full assortment of singing birds and musical pocket watches. These skilled crafts are handed down from generation to generation.
